Where’s the champ? Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion for almost three and a half years, putting him pretty close to the top of the list for longest title reigns in company history. That has been the case for a variety of reasons, though one of the most important reasons is that Reigns rarely defends the title. Some people are going to notice just that, and now a prominent WWE Superstar is talking about it.

World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was a guest on the SI Media Podcast and talked about Reigns’ time as champion. Rollins said that fans are not talking about who can dethrone Reigns due to him being so absent. While it is an opportunity, Rollins described it as “such a glass ceiling opportunity” as Reigns does not defend the title. Rollins went on to say that it made his reign as World Heavyweight Champion nicer, as he is able to defend his title more often. Reigns last defended his title at Crown Jewel on November 4 and is expected to do so again at the Royal Rumble on January 27.
That’s a bold statement. Check out how Rollins and Reigns have interacted over the years:
Opinion: Rollins is right in some ways here, as it is hard to get invested in whatever Reigns is doing because he so rarely does anything. When weeks if not months go by between his appearances, let alone title defenses, there is only so much interest to be had. At the same time though, there is little denying that Reigns is the biggest star in WWE and that isn’t going to change until someone knocks him off, no matter what title Rollins holds.
