What could have been. Last week saw one of the biggest shocks to the wrestling world in recent years as Bray Wyatt unexpectedly passed away at age 36. Wyatt had been out of action for several months due an an illness which had kept him out o action for WrestleMania 39 earlier this year. Now we know what WWE might had planned for him for the show in April.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter there were were multiple plans considered for Wyatt at WrestleMania 39. One of the original plans called for Wyatt to face Uncle Howdy, but as Howdy was not seen as up to Wyatt’s level, the idea was dropped. The other idea was a match with Brock Lesnar, who turned it down as he did not feel it fit for him. As a result, Wyatt was scheduled to face Bobby Lashley, who he had been working with when he was pulled off of television due to illness.

Opinion: The Lashley part was fairly well known, but the fact that WWE thought they might have something with the Uncle Howdy story. The interesting thing here though is that WWE had a variety of ideas for Wyatt and two of those names are former World Champions. That is a heck of a lineup and shows you just how many options they had for someone like Wyatt, who really was that versatile.
