It’s all about the money. Over the last few years, WWE has begun presenting several more events outside of the continental United States. These are shows that are often taking place in front of tens of thousands of people, many of whom are not going to be getting to see WWE live very often. It turns out that there was something else that drew WWE to these places, and it was for quite the impact.

In September 2022, WWE presented Clash At The Castle from Cardiff, Wales. Now the Welsh government has revealed the financial impact from the show. The government has announced that the show brought in about $27.8 million for the local economy, which is described as a “10:1 return on investment.” If this is accurate, it would mean the Welsh government paid approximately $2.7 million to WWE to run the show in the country.

The show was a hit. Check out some of what happened:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that should not be a huge surprise and I could go for seeing it happen more often. Tens of thousands of people came in to Wales to see the show and those are tens of thousands of people spending money on hotels, food, souvenirs, transportation and sightseeing. That is going to make all kinds of money for the local economy and if a ten to one return is what Wales is getting, they are doing something right.
