That’s one way to get out of things. The WWE superstar’s travel schedule is not for the faint of heart. Wrestlers are asked to go up and down the road all year long with very few breaks in between. That can wear on their bodies and minds in a hurry, but it’s not like they can just say they aren’t working that night. However, that’s only for the normal shows, as one current wrestler has proven.
According to Fightful.com, Kevin Owens has told WWE that he does not want to work Super ShowDown next month and it seems that his request has been granted. Owens is currently not scheduled for a match on the show, though that could change before the event. Last year, John Cena and Daniel Bryan refused to work Crown Jewel with no notable repercussions. Owens did wrestle last year at Greatest Royal Rumble, the only other Saudi Arabian show that took place while he was healthy.
This is what won’t be in Saudi Arabia. Check out Owens in action at Money In The Bank:
Opinion: I have no idea why Owens doesn’t want to work the show but given the amount of negative publicity that Crown Jewel received and how WWE has tried to distance themselves from Saudi Arabia, they are hardly in a position to turn down Owens’ request. At least Owens is getting the time off, as the show is going to be long enough without him. Making someone go on this trip wouldn’t look good for WWE and they are smart to not force it.
