Oh No Not Now. Big Name Suffers Injury On Monday Night Raw, WrestleMania 35 Status In Jeopardy.

The worst possible timing. One of the potentially great matches flying underneath the radar for WrestleMania 35 is the United States Championship match between champion Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio. That has some incredible potential for a match that we haven’t seen before between two guys who could put on an incredible show under the right circumstances. However, one such circumstance is standing in their way.

As announced on WWE.com, Mysterio injured his ankle during a match against Baron Corbin on Monday Night Raw earlier this week. This caused Mysterio’s match against Andrade on SmackDown Live to be canceled and has put his title match at WrestleMania in jeopardy. At the moment, it isn’t clear if Mysterio will be cleared in time for Sunday’s title match. If not, there is no word on who will be replacing him.

Opinion: Maybe I’m thinking about this a bit too much, but maybe this is a way to get John Cena into the match instead of Mysterio. The match had been rumored leading up to WrestleMania and Cena has recently been confirmed to work a match at the show against an unannounced opponent. If nothing else, I’m not sure what the point is in having a title match between people who lost back to back matches on Monday Night Raws.
