These are always fun. On tonight’s episode of “NXT”, General Manager William Regal announced that the NXT Tag Team Titles will be on the line at “Takeover: Toronto” as the Revival will defend their titles against DIY (Tommaso Ciampa/Johnny Gargano) in a two out of three falls match. This has become one of NXT’s top gimmick matches and is treated as a big deal.
That match seemingly completes the card, which now has five matches, one of which will be at least two falls. Here’s the card to date:
Shinsuke Nakamura defends the NXT Title against Samoa Joe
The Revival defends the NXT Tag Team Titles against DIY in a 2/3 falls match
Authors of Pain vs. TM61 in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
Asuka defends the NXT Women’s Title against Mickie James
Bobby Roode vs. Tye Dillinger
As usual, the Takeover specials look great on paper and should be even more fun live. Tying this together with the “Survivor Series 2016” pay per view is a really solid idea and should make for a really big wrestling weekend. NXT has gone from the developmental territory to arguably the most entertaining thing about WWE in a long time. I’m looking forward to “Takeover: Toronto” and hopefully it continues NXT’s roll of great specials.
