That makes it official. There are a lot of talented people down in NXT and that means that the future could be rather bright for WWE. With so many people around, you never know when you might see the next big star waiting on you. That is certainly the case with a lot of people on the NXT roster, but now one of them is officially making the move up to the big times.
Earlier this week on NXT, Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher had a heck of a cage match, which wound up being one of the more hard hitting and brutal matches that WWE has had in a very long time. They beat the heck out of each other and Thatcher lost some teeth but wound up winning in the end. It felt like a swan song for Riddle and that turns out to be the case.
Riddle was officially introduced as the newest member of the SmackDown roster this week, with Kurt Angle (who refereed his match against Thatcher) introducing him. Riddle did not appear in person on the show but was introduced via a highlight package. There is no word on when Riddle will have his first match or appearance on the show. Riddle debuted in NXT on October 31, 2018 and has wrestled at both the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series since. This comes after rumors of Riddle’s impending move.
Riddle can do a lot. Check out some of his highlights:
Opinion: This wasn’t exactly a secret and it’s a smart idea. Riddle might not have been the top start in NXT but he is someone who is going to get some attention in a hurry, which is a good thing right now (or anytime actually). I could go for more of Riddle around, though I’m almost worried of what the main roster will try to turn him into. Either way, it’s an interesting prospect and that’s a good thing.
