The wacky partners. No matter how far someone goes in wrestling, there is no such thing as being too far to be turned back one way or another. Sometimes it can be a simple action that changes a wrestler’s trajectory and it can make for some very interesting moments. Or at times it can be a complete swerve, which is entertaining in its own right. Now we have another situation which could go either way.
NXT has gone tournament crazy recently, launching both the men’s and women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The men’s edition has been held for several years now while the women are holding their inaugural tournament. The winners receive a future Tag Team Title shot so the spots in the tournaments are rather valuable. Now two more wrestlers are getting those chances.
NXT General Manager William Regal has announced that Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher have been added to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The team was added after Ashante Adonis was injured by Karrion Kross, meaning that he and Desmond Troy could not compete. Ciampa approached Thatcher after losing to him in the Fight Pit and mentioned the tournament, but Thatcher did not give an answer.
Well, @NXTCiampa is partially correct. There WAS an opening for the #DustyClassic, but it seems you two have just filled that vacancy… good luck gentlemen. #WWENXT https://t.co/Y68idUyWQL

Opinion: This is an interesting story as seeing the team put into the tournament could make for some good matches going forward. I’m not sure if Thatcher has turned after the match, but it is nice to see a logical move like this. There is always the chance of them turning on one another again, but we could be in for something fun here and that is not a bad thing.
