The more things turn? Every now and then, a wrestler needs a change of pace. There are several different ways to do this, but one of the easiest is to turn someone from either babyface to heel or vice versa. The timing needs to be right though and if things are not done properly, the whole thing can be a disaster. NXT seems to be setting up another turn and it might be a little tricky.
One of the biggest stories taking place in NXT at the moment is the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, which has introduced a women’s version for the first time ever this year. The tournament will consist of eight teams and the first match took place during this week’s edition of NXT. The result was a bit of an upset, but there might be some bigger plans in store.
This week’s NXT featured the team of Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter defeating Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez in a first round tournament match. Catanzaro and Carter celebrated backstage and bragged about their success. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this was meant to be the start of a heel turn for one or both of them. It is not clear when the two would be turning.
They sound a little mean. Check out the win and all of the bragging:
Opinion: This is a tricky one to pull off as Catanzaro is not exactly the most physically intimidating star. She can do some amazing things in the ring, but those are the kinds of moves that are going to make the crowd like her rather than booing here. It could work out well in the end, but Catanzaro seems to have a very high ceiling and I don’t know how wise it would be to mess with her at the moment.
