Out of many, one. The Coronavirus has changed a lot of things about the wrestling world and that does not seem to be getting any better anytime soon. However, there are ways to slow things down a bit and make some adjustments so that things aren’t as bad as they seem. That includes dealing with wrestlers who are unable to make the show, which WWE has done again.
One of the biggest problems for WWE has been the lack of wrestlers being able to come to the shows from different countries. This includes all of the United Kingdom, which means there has been no NXT UK or NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin. You can’t have a title sit on the sidelines that long, so WWE has a solution that they don’t use very often around here.
This week on NXT, Hijo de Fantasma defeated Drake Maverick to become the new Interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion in the finals of a tournament. The tournament was a round robin format with Fantasma winning his block clean while Maverick had to win a triple threat match to break a three way tie. There is no word on when Devlin will be back or what will be done regarding the two title situation.
It was an emotional moment. Check out how things went after the match was over:
Opinion: This is something that WWE had to do and it makes sense to have Fantasma as the new champion. It’s nice to see someone getting a push right out of the block and that is what they have done here. Now hopefully they do something else with him, but the match with Devlin writes itself. You know, whenever they can actually make that match take place.
