Monday Night Raw Stars Appear And Title Defense Takes Place During SmackDown Live Dark Matches

From Raw To SmackDown. WWE has a huge roster, to the point where they’ve been able to split it into two different lineups that almost never cross paths. However, every now and then WWE is willing to allow some changes for the sake of a special appearance. This can include having someone appear on the other show if it’s taking place in their hometown. That’s what WWE did this week for a dark match.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, there was a dark match both before and after this week’s SmackDown Live taping. Before the show in Detroit, Rhyno, who is from Detroit, defeated fellow Monday Night Raw star Mike Kanellis. After the taping was over, SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte retained over Becky Lynch and Carmella, during which Carmella spent most of the match sitting in the crowd eating popcorn. All three women appeared during the show itself.

Opinion: It’s a good idea to have the hometown guys like Rhyno show up for an appearance like this. The match doesn’t mean anything but it’s going to give the fans something to cheer for. Rhyno isn’t the biggest star, but in the case of a stronger name, it might prevent the fans from chanting for someone they want to see later on in the night. It doesn’t hurt anything and since they’re already working for WWE in the first place, what difference does it make?
