This one has never happened before. Earlier this month, Rey Mysterio made his full time return to WWE in a match on SmackDown 1000. Mysterio is officially back with the company and that means it might be a bit harder to see him. However, with any wrestler signing, there may be a few extra commitments they have to meet. In Mysterio’s case, it’s quite a unique one.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE made an attempt to keep Mysterio from working Chris Jericho’s Rock N Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise. The cruise leaves this weekend and isn’t finished until Wednesday, meaning Mysterio would have to miss Tuesday’s SmackDown Live. Mysterio is not wrestling on the cruise and is only appearing as a guest. He is also not scheduled for any live events this weekend.
They don’t want this guy missing.
Opinion: I can understand WWE being a little apprehensive about this. It’s not the most normal prior commitment in the world so it’s a little more complicated than Mysterio going to a show or a signing and then coming back. WWE is probably paying Mysterio a lot of money for his new contract and they want him working for them, not someone else. I doubt this is going to be a big deal but it’s certainly a unique one.
