Rule #1 of Raw. This week’s Monday Night Raw ended with Ronda Rousey turning heel for the first time in her WWE run, attacking Becky Lynch and severely damaging her arm. This was a much more aggressive side of Rousey than we’ve seen before and it makes for a change of pace as we head into WrestleMania. The attack was well done, and part of that was for a specific reason.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey was told to make her attack on Lynch look as realistic as possible with the only rule being no strikes to the face. This rule was likely due to Nia Jax injuring Lynch back in November and causing Lynch to miss her match with Rousey at Survivor Series. Rousey has been said to have worked herself into a shoot over her argument with Lynch on Twitter and the attack might have tied into the story.
This one seemed different. Check out Rousey’s more realistic attack on Lynch:
Opinion: That’s the kind of thing that makes sense for this time of year as Rousey is someone who could be played up as losing control in a moment like this. It’s a great way to have the situation look that much more realistic while working the fans and that’s a good idea. Now if WWE can follow through with this, they’re certainly onto something, especially with WrestleMania coming up.
