The card is growing. We are less than a month away from Backlash and that makes for an interesting show. Backlash isn’t one of the WWE’s themed shows, meaning that it doesn’t have a natural idea to build around. Instead we are going to be seeing more of a patchwork show, which is nice for a change. Now we know one of the higher profile matches that will be taking place.

Back in January at the Royal Rumble, Edge made a shocking return to the ring after a nearly nine year absence due to a neck injury. Edge returned and eliminated Randy Orton, setting off a feud between the two of them. They met in a Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36 with Edge coming out on top, but now they have something else that they need to do.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Edge accepted Orton’s challenge for a standard singles match at Backlash. Orton issued the challenge at the end of last week’s show, saying that while Edge won the fight, he couldn’t beat Orton in a regular wrestling match. The selling point of the match is that it could be the greatest one on one wrestling match of all time. Backlash takes place on June 14.

They’ve done a lot to get here. Check out their feud so far:

Opinion: I don’t think there was any doubt that the challenge would be accepted and the move does make sense from Orton’s side. That being said, it takes a little work to get around the idea that we are going from Last Man Standing to a regular match. That’s a lot easier to understand than the idea that this will be the greatest match ever though. I’m sure it’s going to be good, but will it even be the best match in June?
