Kurt Angle on Roman Reigns’ Push

It’s been awhile since we talked about these guys. Roman Reigns is easily one of the most controversial names in wrestling today with almost everyone having an opinion on him in one form or another. At the same time, Kurt Angle is going into the WWE Hall of Fame and he’s never been one to shy away from an opinion.

Angle recently appeared on SiriusXM’s “Busted Open Radio” to discuss a host of topics, including the treatment of Reigns. In short, Angle thinks Reigns was pushed a little too hard but knows there’s a lot of talent there. You can read the comments (Transcript courtesy of 411mania.com):

“Yeah that poor kid, he got the short end of the stick. When it comes down to it, it’s really not his fault. I’m not discrediting the WWE, I think they’ve done a fabulous job of pushing this kid. But I think the fans like to see going through the ringer. US Title, Intercontinental Title, King Of The Ring, then the WWE Title. I think Roman kind of stepped up there right away and became the main eventer, main evented Wrestlemania literally a year after The Shield broke up. I think it was partly that, but you can’t deny his talent. The kid is great in the ring.”

It’s kind of hard to argue with this line of thinking. Reigns pretty much did go from the Shield breaking up to the huge push and that’s not the best way to go about something like this. At the end of the day, you need a foundation to build your career on and Reigns just didn’t have that when he arrived in the main event.
