Not done yet? Retirement is one of the trickier subjects for any wrestler as you never know when they are officially going to hang up their boots. While you might see someone announce a date for their retirement, it an often be easier said than done to go through with it. That appears to be the situation again with an active wrestling legend, as he is backtracking his previous retirement announcement.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: VIDEO: Adam Copeland Seemingly Written Off Of AEW TV In Violent Attack
AEW’s Dustin Rhodes appeared on the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling podcast and was asked about his retirement. Rhodes, 54 years old, said that he was still “doing amazing” in his fifties and talked about how proud he was of his time in AEW. While Rhodes had previously said that he would be retiring within a year, he went on to say that he saw himself having “2-4 more years if his legs allow”. He also said that he was happy with producing if that is where he can help. Rhodes was in action this week, wrestling a match that will air Friday on Rampage.
Rhodes has done well during his time in AEW. Check out some of what he has done in the promotion:
Opinion: If Rhodes is capable of going out there and wrestling at a level that both he and AEW are happy with, why should he stop? Rhodes is 54 years old and nowhere close to the oldest wrestler on the active roster as Billy Gunn is 60 and a reigning champion. Rhodes is someone who can still contribute and offer something so if AEW is happy to have him around, good for him to keep going, just to see how much time and history he can defy.
What do you think of Rhodes? How can he be best used in AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
