We might as well have another. We’re coming up on Extreme Rules but since the span between Stomping Grounds and Extreme Rules is not all that long, the card is being thrown together in quite the hurry. That is the case again this week as several matches are being added to the show in the span of a few days. Another match was added to the card on Tuesday night.
This week on 205 Live, Tony Nese became the new #1 contender to the Cruiserweight Title by defeating Akira Tozawa. The win gives Nese a title shot against Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak at next month’s Extreme Rules. Nese lost the title to Gulak in a triple threat match at Stomping Ground which also involved Akira Tozawa. Nese pinned Tozawa to win the title.
It was a heck of a match. Check out part of Nese vs. Tozawa for the title shot:
Opinion: This is the logical step and it’s nice to see Nese earning the title shot rather than just being handed one. It lets us have a good match to set up for the pay per view instead of having something set up because that’s what we’re supposed to do. Nese has improved drastically over the last few months and hopefully he can continue that at the pay per view against Gulak.
Does Nese getting the title shot make sense? How will the match go? Let us know in the comments below.
