Tell me more. Earlier this week, the “Smackdown Live” commentary booth was operating at half speed with only John Bradshaw Layfield and Tom Phillips calling the show. Both David Otunga and Mauro Ranallo were off for the week but the interesting thing is why one of them might have been gone.

As stated on camera, Otunga was out filming a movie. Ranallo was gone due to being snowed in thanks to a blizzard in the northeast. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there might be a bit more to Ranallo’s story than meets the eye.

“What they said on the air was that the weather prevented Ranallo from coming and he’d be back next week and that Otunga was out filming a movie. At least half of that was true, since Otunga was out filming a movie.”

Opinion: I’m hoping this isn’t anything significant as Ranallo has been one of the better commentators in a long time. However, it was certainly nice to only have two voices on Tuesday instead of the usual four. I have no idea why we need to listen to so many people talking at once but it gets annoying in a hurry. Hopefully Ranallo is back and Phillips (and Otunga) can go elsewhere for a change.
