It had to happen eventually. Titles are the easiest concept to understand in wrestling as anyone can understand the idea of a big shiny belt. Someone has the title and someone else wants it, meaning a title match can be held for the championship. Those are easy things to build and that was the case again this week, with some history being made once again.
The AEW Tag Team Titles changed hands at All Out 2021 on Sunday night, as the Lucha Bros defeated the Young Bucks in a steel cage match. The teams have feuded throughout AEW’s history, including trading the AAA Tag Team Titles in 2019. The loss ends the Bucks’ record long reign at 302 days and makes the Bros the fifth champions in the history of the titles.
The Bros are going to be awesome champions. Check out what they did without the belts:
Opinion: This is a title change that had to happen and that is not a bad thing. The Bucks had held the titles for about ten months and there was nothing left for them to do. I can go for the Bros getting the belts after their history with the Bucks as well, so this is about as well as things could have gone. The fact that the match was as good as it was made things even better.
What did you think of the title change? How long will the Bros hold the titles? Let us know in the comments below.
