There’s the big one. AEW has not been around very long but they have build up a nice reputation for their championships. The company takes care of its titles and as a result, a title change feels like it means something. Someone winning a championship is a big moment in the company and now that is the case again, with the biggest title that AEW has to offer.
Hangman Page won the AEW World Title in the main event of Full Gear on Saturday night, defeating Kenny Omega to end his record setting reign. This is the first World Title in Page’s career and his first singles title in AEW. Page was defeated by Chris Jericho in the match to crown the first ever AEW World Champion and is a former AEW Tag Team Champion with Omega as his partner.
Page has been a big deal in AEW. Check out some of his road to the title:
Opinion: The more I think about it, the more I don’t think there was any other way the show could have ended. Page had been built up for so long now that it was either win the title or reset everything for him, because he had been so close before. This is the right way to go and well deserved, though now we get to see what happens with Page as the top star in the company.
