What could have been. There are a lot of stories that take place on a wrestling show at any point in a given year. Some of these are a lot better than others and several are remembered rather fondly. At the same time, some of them do not bring up the best memories for one reason or another. Then there are some which are discussed but are pulled without ever making it to television. Now we can see something that didn’t it to the WWE airwaves.
SmackDown star Mustafa Ali has released a vignette which he filmed but never made it to WWE TV. The vignette features Ali in a suit, talking about how there was a need for a new America, as people like him would never be trusted. Ali spoke about how there is nothing more American than looking like him and something needed to change. This would have been a followup to a promo Ali cut on the October 29 edition of SmackDown, where he said no one believed in him because of his name. Ali has said that this promo will not air due to reasons beyond his control, though he did not specify what those reasons were.
This is quite the speech. Check out what Ali was trying to do, plus where this came from and a better time for him:
Opinion: As much as I can get behind the idea of Ali doing something new, I can also understand the idea of WWE not wanting to air this on their television shows. That being said, they’re also allowing it to air on one of their wrestler’s social media channels. It wouldn’t surprise me to see this wind up as part of a new character for Ali, but it very well may be exactly what Ali says: letting us some what could have been.
What do you think of Ali? How would the new character have gone? Let us know in the comments below.
