He’s still there. Earlier this month, WWE was officially sold to Endeavor, marking the first time that the promotion has ever had a parent company. This includes Vince McMahon sticking around in an executive role. McMahon’s role has left fans wondering what he might be doing with regards to WWE creative. While McMahon has not taken over the department again, there was some evidence that his influence was being felt.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were some changes made to wordings in WWE promos on SmackDown. This included certain words being changed to words that McMahon would prefer or had ordered to use during his career. There is no word on if this is McMahon’s direct influence or just the WWE writers wanting to appeal to what McMahon would want. There was also no clarification of whose lines were changed in what way.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen in WWE for a good while to come as there has never been a bigger influence in the company than McMahon himself. The way he likes promos to go is going to be around for a long time as the people doing the promos are going to want to keep him happy. That may not be the most pleasant, but it does make sense from their prospective.
