It’s an accomplishment. Merchandising has been a major part of wrestling for decades now and always will be. It is a simple concept: wrestling fans are always going to want some kind of a souvenir, clothing or maybe a toy that goes with their favorite wrestlers. WWE has made a fortune on it over the years and now another company is getting in on the act in a big way.

Earlier this month, AEW released its first wave of action figures. It was a big moment for the company, as they have gotten a major line of toys into Wal-Mart so early into the company’s run. However, things have not gone as well as possible, with some stores getting the figures at different times but one thing has been certain: these things are popular. So popular in fact that something had to be done about them.

According to PWInsider.com, AEW action figures have been so popular that some Wal-Mart stores have limited fans to only being able to purchase two at a time. The first set includes Chris Jericho, the Young Bucks, Cody, Kenny Omega and Brandi Rhodes, with another set due to be released later this year. An AEW title belt was also released to Wal-Mart at the same time.

These things look cool. Check out how AEW has hyped them:

Opinion: That’s a very impressive accomplishment for AEW. It doesn’t matter if people are buying them because they like them or for the potential resale value, as the toys are being sold one way or another. Fans are certainly interested in them and they were sold out at my local Wal-Mart as well. Good for AEW for having such a successful launch, as well as having such interested fans.
