You have to start somewhere. Despite the fact that they have yet to run a dozen wrestling show, AEW has become one of the most important wrestling promotions in the United States and it would not surprise me a bit to see them become one of the biggest in the world in a hurry. That being said, they are still brand new and have a lot of things that they still need to set up. This includes a few more titles to be crowned for the first time, though as of this week, they have that covered.
This week on Dynamite, the finals of the tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Tag Team Champions was set. The show featured two semifinal matches with the winners moving on to the title match on next week’s show. In the first match, the Lucha Bros defeated Private Party, followed by SCU (represented by Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) defeating the Dark Order. The title match between the Lucha Bros and SCU will take place on October 30 and features a personal issue as the Lucha Bros injured SCU member Christopher Daniels on last week’s Dynamite.
Here’s your setup. Check out the Lucha Bros attacking SCU:
Opinion: This is the title match that makes the most sense and there is no reason to go with anything else. I’m curious to see how the title match goes as you really could pick either team to crown as the inaugural champions. SCU winning would make sense as they get revenge for attacking Daniels, but at the same time the Lucha Bros are just so good. That’s how you book a good title match and AEW has pulled it off quite well here. It’s the last title they have to offer at the moment and keeping it simple makes a lot of sense for them.
