It’s what makes sense. You never know where things are going to lead in wrestling. Sometimes you will see something take place and then it moves on to something big just a few days later. However, there are other times where you might have to wait for several months before you get a payoff on an angle. The latter seems to be the case this time but it might be worth the wait.

Back in November, NXT presented its Takeover: WarGames event, which of course featured the show’s namesake match. For the first time ever though, there was a women’s edition of the match, featuring eight women going to battle in the biggest match of the weekend. However, the match did not go as planned as Dakota Kai turned on Tegan Nox and attacked Nox’s previously injured knee. You knew revenge was coming and now we know when.

WWE has announced that Nox and Kai will face off in a street fight at Takeover: Portland on February 16. The match comes after Nox defeated Kai in a regular match on this week’s NXT after hitting her in the face with a knee brace. This will be the first time that either of them have had a singles match at a Takeover event. The match is the fifth match announced for the card, including three title matches and Johnny Gargano vs. Finn Balor.

It’s a big deal. Check out the announcement plus their first match:

Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai: WWE NXT, Jan. 29, 2020

Opinion: This is the way that they have to go and I’m glad that what we got wasn’t the big finish for the story. The two of them have a reason to beat the heck out of each other and it could be a very entertaining brawl in Portland. NXT, or WWE in general for that matter, does not often feature violent matches among women and now they have a story to make it work. Hopefully it goes well, and that may be the case.
