It’s that time again. We are less than a week away from the end of the decade and that means it’s time to look back at how things have gone in the previous ten years. It’s no secret that a lot has changed in wrestling in that time with several new names coming and going up and down the card. There are some who are more important than others and WWE would know something about them.
As we move towards 2020, it’s kind of amazing to think about how far we have come since 2011. That year started with the Miz as WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan was little more than a midcarder, Shawn Michaels had only been retired for about nine months and WWE was pushing the heck out of Alberto Del Rio. A lot has changed since then, and WWE wants to look at the time in between.
WWE.com has released a list of the ten Superstars of the Decade, though the list appears to be in no particular order, with no names being announced as higher than the others. There are some noteworthy absences with Dean Ambrose and CM Punk not on the list. At the moment, there are no plans to announce any formal list of Superstars of the Decade on WWE television.
Here is the list, in no particular order:
Seth Rollins
Roman Reigns
John Cena
Kofi Kingston
Brock Lesnar
Daniel Bryan
Becky Lynch
Randy Orton
The Miz
Sheamus
That’s quite a list. Check out something from some of the names:
Opinion: The list is mostly what you would expect, but the lack of Punk is pretty ridiculous. Ambrose is one thing as he is actively wrestling for another promotion, but WWE is more than willing to advertise Punk’s appearances on Backstage. That’s a bit much to buy and it comes off as a bit petty. Punk hasn’t been around in a long time, but he’s been a bigger success than Sheamus and arguably Lynch (if you’re talking about the decade as a whole).
Who would be on your list? Who shouldn’t have made WWE’s list? Let us know in the comments below.
