It might ring a bell. If you haven’t been living under a rock for the last month or so, odds are you have heard about Tiger King. The Netflix series has taken the country by storm with its story of an eccentric zookeeper and his downfall over a rivalry with another zookeeper. The story has one twist and turn after another and the show’s main character is one of the more fascinating in recent memory. Now, wrestlers are tied into the story a bit as well.
The main plot point of the series revolves around a feud between Oklahoma zookeeper Joe Exotic and Florida zookeeper Carole Baskin. The two spent years trying to shut each other down with Baskin eventually getting the better of things as Exotic was sent to prison for hiring someone to kill her. It was quite a path to get there, and wrestling was involved, at least for one day.
Ring of Honor’s Matt Taven was recently interviewed by ESPN West Palm and told a story involving Exotic and his zoo. Taven, Jay Lethal and Dalton Castle were on their way to a show in Oklahoma City and saw signs advertising the zoo. The three made a trip to the zoo, where Lethal mentioned that he was from Tampa, Florida, the home of Baskin’s zoo. As a result, Exotic’s employees thought that the three were spies. Everything was eventually settled down and it was made clear that the three only wanted to see tigers.
Exotic actually has some wrestling connections. Check out a story about him promoting a show, plus a look at the wrestlers involved:

Opinion: This is one of those things where someone gets tied into one of the biggest pop culture stories going today. That can make for some fun stories like this one as Exocit is as insane of a character as you’re going to find today. Him being tied into professional wrestling isn’t exactly a surprise as the two worlds do seem like they would go hand in hand. Couple that with Exotic thinking the trio were spies and it’s even better.
Which of those three have the brightest future? Would Exotic make a good wrestling personality? Let us know in the comments below.
