It happens occasionally. Wrestling is a tricky medium, as wrestlers are tasked with making fans believe what they are seeing is real, without it being anywhere close to the truth. These can make for some interesting situations off camera, and now we know something more about two legends having some trouble.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Breaking Rules: Why SmackDown Stars Are Included In The World Heavyweight Title Tournament
During an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE star Shane Douglas told a story of a backstage fight between Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. Following the segment when the team split on the Barber Shop in 1991, Douglas claimed that Jannetty stormed into the locker room and attacked Michaels. This was reportedly due to Michaels being given a singles push and Vince McMahon telling Jannetty that WWE would be in touch in a few months if they came up with any ideas for him. Michaels handled the talking with McMahon for the team, leaving Jannetty to believe that Michaels went into business for himself.
They were a famous team. Check out the split, plus the Rockers in better days:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you see in wrestling from time to time and there is no way around it more often than not. Jannetty believed that Michaels was taking away from his career and did something about it. Whether that is true or not is hard to know, but at the same time, Michaels’ career went through the roof while Jannetty took some time to become a star without him. Maybe Jannetty went too far, but it is still a heck of a story.
