The first of many. We’re currently sitting just under five weeks away from Summerslam and that means a lot of stuff needs to be set up. With so much time left, WWE has a few extra weeks to set up some of the card but in this case they’re not exactly wasting time. WWE announced the first of many title matches tonight and they’re certainly getting one of the bigger ones out of the way first.

This week on Monday Night Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle announced that Ronda Rousey will be challenging Alexa Bliss for the Women’s Title. At the moment Rousey is still suspended and the suspension was extended by another week. However, if Rousey can manage to not attack Bliss again before the pay per view, she will indeed receive the title shot. The two have been feuding since Bliss cashed in her Money in the Bank contract during Rousey’s title shot.

It got a little physical before the match was announced.

Ronda Rousey violates suspension to brutalize Alexa Bliss: Raw, July 16, 2018

Opinion: This wasn’t the biggest surprise in the world as Rousey vs. Bliss has been fairly obvious for a few months now. For one thing, it’s not like there’s anyone particularly worthy of challenging for the title, at least not in a bigger match. You might have been able to build up Ember Moon in time but losing to Sarah Logan this week seems to have derailed that idea. Rousey is the only real option, though I’m not sure how it ends.
