That’s quite the caveat. Back at AEW’s debut event Double Or Nothing, Jon Moxley made his big surprise debut with the company for the show’s major moment. Moxley has been on fire since then and instantly became one of the company’s biggest stars. He even headlined the company’s second show and likely will do so again in the future. However, his contract has a rather surprising detail.

According to Rajah.com, Moxley has signed a three year deal with AEW but there is an opt out clause after one year. Before he left WWE, Moxley told Vince McMahon that he was taking a year off to heal up and would be back. The company reportedly even began drawing up plans for Moxley to return to the company at the 2020 Royal Rumble, though there is no reason to suggest that he is leaving AEW anytime soon.

Moxley can get all fired up. Check out his debut promo with the company:

Opinion: I’m not sure how likely it is that Moxley leaves AEW in a year. It seems that he managed to play WWE for a rather nice sendoff before he left and then got to go exactly where he wanted to be all along. Either way, he has been rather entertaining in AEW, even with the rather unnecessary hardcore match at Fyter Fest. His match against Kenny Omega should be great though and that’s what matters most.
