What’s in a pair of names? We are coming up on a different era of wrestling television as the rise of AEW and SmackDown Live moving over the FOX are taking place at almost exactly the same time. This means that we will be getting a lot more content to watch in such a short span and now we might have some extra details on two upcoming shows which might be important.
According to PWInsider.com, we now know the names for both the weekly AEW TNT show as well as the weekly WWE FOX Sports 1 studio show. AEW recently filed a trademark for AEW: Dynamite, which has been the rumored name for the show for several months now. On the other hand, the FOX Sports 1 studio show has a working title of Backstage, though that name could be changed before the show premieres. The date of the first show is not yet known.
They have a long way to go. Check out hype videos for both companies:
Opinion: Both of these shows are going to be big deals though it is no secret that AEW’s show is going to matter a little bit more. I’m not wild on the Backstage name but maybe they can come up with something a little bit better than that in the next few weeks. The studio show is a good idea but the AEW show could change the way wrestling works for a long time to come.
