Those are some special honors. Wrestlers are celebrities, but they live in a rather small bubble. They are famous and on television almost every week, but that fame can only go so far. Sometimes they are able to reach a new level outside of wrestling, though there are some who become such wrestling legends that they do not need to go elsewhere. Now we are seeing a great success story in both styles.
Two wrestlers, one active and one deceased, have received a special honor. First up, a park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been renamed to honor WWE legend Bruno Sammartino. The park is in Ross Township in Pittsburgh and was formerly known as Sangree Park. A ceremony was held to change the name and included the unveiling of a new sign showing Sammartino standing in the ring and wearing what would become the WWE Championship.
This is pretty cool. Check out the new park name being unveiled:
Also, SmackDown’s Sasha Banks has revealed her official Star Wars action figure. Banks played Koska Reeves on the second season of the Disney+ Star Wars series the Mandalorian. The role was written specifically for Banks, who filmed her part in the series during a hiatus from WWE. The figure includes a variety of accessories, including a removable helmet.

Opinion: You don’t get to see wrestlers honored like this very often and it is great to see something like this happen. Sammartino is one of the biggest names in the history of the WWE and is an absolute legend in Pittsburgh. I’m surprised that something like this has not happened before, though I would be shocked if nothing else in Pittsburgh has already been named after him.
Then you have Banks, and she is being honored in a completely different way. While Sammartino was a huge star in the territory days, Banks has fond a role outside of WWE. I’m not sure where that is going to lead, if it leads anywhere at all, but how many wrestlers are going to get this kind of a shot? It is rather cool to see and Banks has put in all kinds of work get here.
What do you think of both of them? How successful can Banks be as an actress? Let us know in the comments below.
