It’s showtime! There are legends in wrestling and sometimes you get to see them leave the ring on their own terms. That is the kind of thing you do not get to see very often though, as there can be a few different things which cause issues. One of the worst is an injury, which has taken out more legends than anyone would like. It seemed to do that a few years back in one case, but that might not be the case.

One of the biggest surprises of 2020 came near the end of the year when Sting made his return to wrestling by appearing for AEW. Sting announced his retirement from the ring in 2016 and it was not clear what he would be doing in the company. There was always a chance that he could be getting back in the ring, and now we know what is coming in his future.

There’s your announcement. Check out what is next for Sting:

AEW has released a video announcing that Sting and Darby Allin will team up against Team Taz’s Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a street fight. The challenge was issued during this week’s edition of Dynamite. This will be Sting’s first match since Night of Champion 2015 when he faced Seth Rollins in a WWE Title match. Sting injured his neck during the match and collapsed, meaning he would not be allowed to return to the ring. There is no word on how frequently Sting will be wrestling for AEW.

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised at this one and I’m rather nervous about something like this happening. I understand that Sting has been medically cleared and can probably get through such a match safely, but that does not mean it is a good idea. At the same time, if he is not going to get in the ring at some point, AEW hiring him seems like a bit of a waste of time. Just please stay safe, because that’s what matters most.
