I’m glad it didn’t work. Every now and then you see a match that you know is special. It might not be the best thing you’ve ever seen or even something that was as good as another match, but there is something about it that you can’t shake. That was the case earlier this month and it turns out that we almost did not get to see everything that was planned.
During the March 17 edition of AEW Dynamite, Thunder Rosa defeated Britt Baker in one of the best matches that AEW has ever produced. The two beat the living daylights out of each other and things got about as violent as you are going to see in a televised match. It received quite a bit of attention for what the women put each other through, but one important AEW name did not approve of what was coming.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW CEO Tony Khan did not approve of various aspects of the lights out match between Baker and Rosa. The women were able to talk both Khan and Jerry Lynn, the match’s agent, into doing what they were wanted. It is not clear what Khan did not want to take place or if any other changes were made to the match.
This was amazing. Check out the match and the backstage reaction:
Opinion: This is the kind of match that you do not get to see very often and it was every bit as good as people are praising it as being. These women beat the fire out of each other and it felt like a struggle. You do not get something like that every day and I was glued to everything I saw. Hopefully the two of them are able to get moved up even further, because it was incredible to see.
