Ouch. As talented as a lot of professional wrestlers are, there is no way to wrestle completely safely. There is always the chance of an injury of some sort and that is never going to change. Wrestling is a physical sport and at some point, almost everyone is going to be injured in one way or another. Unfortunately, that was the case with someone else on a big stage this week.
AEW has been doing something interesting with their Dark series as their plan seems to have been to bring in as many wrestlers from outside their roster as possible. Some of this has been done to help give them a payday during the Coronavirus pandemic as many smaller promotions cannot operate. However, there is always the chance of an injury and now another has taken place.
As announced on his Facebook, John Skyler has suffered a variety of knee injuries during a match on this week’s AEW Dark. Skyler says that he has torn his ACL, MCL and PCL in a tag match with Brady Pierce against the Dark Order. Skyler said that he would be out around six months and promised to be back in the ring. This was Skyler’s third match in AEW after he wrestled twice for the company in May.
It was part of a busy show. Check out this week’s Dark:
Opinion: That’s always a horrible thing to see and it was even worse than usual. Hopefully Skyler’s six month estimate is right and even better than that, as you never want to have someone on the shelf for that long. I’ve seen Skyler in a few different places and with some luck, he’ll be back in the ring sooner rather than later. It’s horrible to hear though and hopefully it gets better fast.
