Hopefully not the first of many. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed almost every life in the country in one way or another and wrestling is no different. As you probably guessed, the biggest worry from the whole situation is a member of the locker room gets it and spreads it around everywhere. WWE took a big step closer to that reality earlier on this month.

As popular as it may be, NXT continues to mainly function as WWE’s developmental territory. That status allows them to be the guinea pigs for a lot of things that WWE is doing. With so many wrestlers on the brand, it is a little bit easier for someone to contract the virus. Unfortunately, that was the case earlier this month and now it is time to see where thins go from here.

WWE has issued a statement, courtesy of 411mania.com, saying that an unnamed developmental wrestler has tested positive for the Coronavirus. The positive test came at some point after June 9, when the wrestler was last at the WWE Performance Center. No other wrestlers have reported symptoms and the company is continuing with its normal television taping schedule.

That isn’t a funny situation so we’ll go with something more positive. Check out the best of last week’s NXT:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that was almost always guaranteed to happen, but that doesn’t make it a good thing. I’m not sure who the wrestler was but they have been in the same building as everyone else as of late. Aside from the wrestler’s health, what matters most is keeping everyone safe and continuing to do so for as long as is necessary/possible. Get that right and then worry about the rest.

What does this mean for WWE? Can they handle a widespread infection? Let us know in the comments below.
