Cole would be a loss bay-bay. While NXT is one of the most entertaining wrestling promotions in the world, the wrestlers have a bigger purpose in the future: making it up to one of the main rosters. That is something that takes a lot of time and effort and everyone doesn’t make it. With so many people trying, it can become a crowded field. That field might get a little thinner later this year.

There may never have been a more successful NXT Champion than Adam Cole. Not only is he the longest reigning NXT Champion in history by a wide margin, but he has also defended the title both at SmackDown and at the Survivor Series. That isn’t bad for a wrestler who hasn’t even hit thirty one years old, but what if he isn’t around WWE for some of his next few birthdays?

According to Wrestlinginc.com, Cole’s contract with WWE expires in August and he has yet to sign a new long term deal. At the moment, it is not clear why the deal has not been signed, meaning there is no indication that Cole will not be re-signing. Should Cole not re-sign and have his contract expire, he would be free and clear to appear at AEW’s All Out, should he want to do so. Cole is scheduled to defend his NXT Title against Velveteen Dream this Sunday at Takeover: In Your House.

Cole has quite a history in NXT. Check out some of his highlights:

Opinion: Now this is interesting as Cole has been ready for the main roster since the day he debuted, but for some reason WWE will not send him up. Yes he has been the NXT Champion for over a year, but how long is that enough without going up to the next level? It’s not quite a now or never moment for Cole, but how long can you ask him to sit in NXT in the prime of his career?

What will happen with Cole? Do you want him in AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
