The Flintstones will return as an animated movie featuring the voices of WWE wrestling talent.

Scheduled to arrive in early 2015, the Warner Bros and WWE Studios co-production will see Hanna-Barbera’s famous cartoon duo Fred and Barney joined by new characters Vince McMagma (voiced by Vince McMahon), John Cenastone (John Cena) and CM Punkrock (CM Punk).

The story will centre around a prehistoric WWE event, according to Deadline. Another crossover film due for 2014, Scooby Doo! Legend of WrestleMania, will see Scooby and the gang solving a mystery at Wrestlemania.

WWE Studios president Michael Luisi said of the partnerships: “WWE is family-friendly entertainment, so partnering with Warner Bros. on a Flintstones/WWE project was a natural extension of our Scooby Doo deal.

“This new, animated feature allows us to showcase our brand with young fans and loyal Flintstones enthusiasts alike.”

Warner Bros will distribute the Flintstones movie worldwide on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download formats.
