It’s been more than 10 years since “Stone Cold” Steve Austin last laced up the boots in a WWE ring, and recent rumors have suggested he may be interested in returning to the squared-circle. A new report says regardless of whether or not this becomes a reality, WWE will certainly be putting more focus on the “Texas Rattlesnake.”

According to PWInsider, WWE will be making a concentrated effort in 2015 to make Austin a prominent member of the company. It had been noted earlier the organization would be marketing Austin merchandise more heavily as well, which has further added to speculation of a larger role for him going forward.

A lot of speculation focused around Austin’s role at WrestleMania 31, though it appears unlikely he will be featured at the eventWrestling Rumors reported Thursday there had once been plans for a match between he and departed-Superstar CM Punk further down the line, possibly at WrestleMania 32, though Punk walking away has seemingly changed that.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who is a close friend of Austin’s, has said it is unlikely the former WWE Champion will step back in the ring. However, a return to the ring is not the only way WWE can capitalize off his likeness and image, so it is possible he could return in another role.

Editor’s Note

Austin is perhaps the most-over wrestler of all-time, so him being featured in anyway can benefit WWE. Especially if they can get him television time.
