Vickie Guerrero Invitational Finish May Have Been Botched

While everyone was talking about the finish of Undertaker/Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX as having been a little sketchy, it appears that was not the match on the card that had a messed up finish.

According to F4WOnline.com, there was a botch that occurred in the finish of the Vickie Guerrero Invitational, the 14-Diva one-fall match that was to crown a Divas Champion.

The report states that AJ Lee was in fact set to retain the Divas Championship, as what actually occurred indicated. However, the finish was not as planned. Lee was apparently supposed to lock Naomi in her “Black Widow” submission, but the Funkadactyl was not supposed to tap on her own. Instead, Lee was supposed to force a tap-out with Naomi’s closest hand, setting up for a match the next night on “Monday Night Raw.”

However, as Lee went to do so, for some reason, Naomi tapped out with her other hand. This would scrap the rematch for Monday, and instead set up for Paige coming in and winning the Divas Championship. While this isn’t to say Paige would not have walked out champion on “Raw,” it is possible the segment would not have gone down as such.

I personally noticed this in attendance as well and figured they would be going with AJ forcing her to tap, and was surprised when the referee didn’t recognize the tap AJ got. A weird finish to an OK Divas match.
