An April 9 Nancy Grace report on the death of the Ultimate Warrior sends wrestlers and fans into an outrage. Grace interviewed former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Diamond Dallas Page on her Headline News program to discuss Warrior’s death and if steroids played a part, leading to an uproar from current superstars and fans who viewed her comments as “disrespectful” and “ignorant.”

During the news segment, Grace talks about the number of past wrestlers that have passed away, many by the overuse of steroids and illegal drugs. While bringing up drugs and steroids, she then presented a list of “wrestlers who died young,” which included Owen Hart. Many thought she was accusing Hart of dying because of, or that he was one that used to abuse steroids, which isn’t the case. Hart infamously passed away after a fall from the rafters during the 1999 WWE ever, “Over the Edge.”

After talking to a doctor about the effects of steroids, then having someone on her staff read the TMZ article written about Warrior’s death, Grace began to speak with DDP. He brought up seeing Warrior during WrestleMania weekend just a few days prior to his death and that he, “looked great.” He also claims even though his energy was as high as ever, you never know what’s going on inside someone’s body.

It was at this time that Grace brings up Warrior’s confession to past steroid use, which lead Page to confess that, “we all used it back in the day.” While Page was obviously just referring to guys in the wrestling business, Grace stops him abruptly with an offended tone and claims that SHE has never used steroids.

Page then realized he was going to have to explain everything very clearly, and said, “a few guys in the business.” He also points out that Warrior was passionate about physical fitness, and that he isn’t nearly as big as he was back in his prime. The interview ended with Grace again implying that rumors of drug and steroid abuse are surrounding Warrior’s death.

It was at this point in the night when wrestlers and fans began taking to Facebook and Twitter to verbally destroy Nancy Grace. Many superstars, both past and present, were deeply offended by the way she handled the topic.

Current WWE superstar and agent Road Dogg Jesse James may have been the first to comment on the matter, saying,

WWE manager Zeb Colter also jumped on the Nancy Grace hate train, saying,

Cody Rhodes also got involved in the conversation, calling Grace an “ignorant sweat hog,”

Smith Hart, the eldest of the Hart brothers, responded to Owen’s name being referenced in the same segment on his official Facebook page, saying,

“I think our beloved sister-in-law Martha as well as my entire family should be tremendously offended by the implication of Nancy Grace that my brother Owens demise had anything to do with drugs or steroids. For her to attempt to capitalize on Warrior’s death while his family grieves for personal choices he may have made more than 20 years ago is a sad to day for what passes as journalism today. Breaking news; Many rock stars snorted cocaine in the 80’s. Perhaps we should shut down the entire music industry. We should not buy into any of their such ridiculous libelous statements. We will hear official details from the coroner this weekend and not from some gossip journalist.”

The responses that continue to pour in from superstars and fans alike towards Nancy Grace will likely be fuel for her next program. Though if she tries to defend herself, she may simply be opening another door for the wrestling community to bear down on top of her.

Editor’s Note: Why can’t people just report that he past, and honor what the man accomplished? To this day I don’t understand why the cause of people’s deaths, especially when they’re heart related, is ANYONE’S business but the families of the deceased. If steroids played a part, what does that matter? We know what steroids are capable of doing to one’s body. Do we need to exploit the negatives instead of remembering and highlighting the positives? How about a wife and kids that just lost a father and husband that OBVIOUSLY loved them more than ANYTHING. Sometimes, journalists disgust me beyond belief, and what I’d like to say about Nancy Grace, I can’t say without having to censor myself out on this website. Zero class, lady. Zero.
