Former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho made a brief return to WWE television last month to hype the “Survivor Series” match between The Authority and Team Cena, alongside working the European circuit for WWE. It has been long known the company has been in need of star power with many of its bigger names out with injury, and Jericho, despite being on tour with his band Fozzy, was brought in to fill the void.
It appears the same will happen with Jericho once more this upcoming January and February, and in his home country of Canada.
PWInsider reports Jericho is now scheduled to work live events on Jan. 31 in Edmonton, alongside Feb. 1 in Calgary and Feb. 28 in Toronto. The first two dates are just after the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view, which it has been rumored Jericho may make a surprise appearance in.
The last date is just after the new WWE “Fast Lane” show, which will be the final pay-per-view on the road to WrestleMania 31.
It has been noted Jericho had been attempting to work out a contract with WWE allowing him to work special live events without him having to show up on television unless there was something he was interested in working. It appears this is some example of that deal, as he will apparently be working just that. His status for WrestleMania 31 is unknown at this point, but given his upcoming tour with his band, a match is unlikely.
Jericho has not wrestled at WrestleMania since WrestleMania 28, when he lost to CM Punk in a match for the WWE Championship.
Editor’s Note
Star power of any kind is good, and it’s great to see Jericho staying active.
