At the time of this writing, WWE was taping the Dec. 5 showing of “Smackdown.” With The Authority out of power, WWE has continued using special guest general managers for both “Monday Night Raw” and “Smackdown.” During the first week in which The Authority was out of power, Daniel Bryan served as the special guest GM for both “Raw” and “Smackdown.”

Next, on the Dec. 1 showing of “Raw,” the Anonymous “Raw” General Manager returned for the night. Now, on the Dec. 5 “Smackdown,” Santino Marella will serve as the special guest GM. Similar to appearing with Larry the Cable Guy on a recent showing of “Raw,” Marella was also there to promote WWE Studios’ “Jingle All the Way 2.”

The opening bout on “Smackdown” saw Dolph Ziggler challenge Luke Harper for the Intercontinental Championship. Harper retained his title by getting himself disqualified. The former Wyatt Family member kicked Ziggler below the belt, causing the disqualification. Afterwards, Harper obtained a ladder, trying to powerbomb Ziggler on it. However, Ziggler turned the tables, hitting a facebuster on Harper, who landed on the ladder. Harper would end up retreating, as Ziggler tossed the ladder towards the fleeing big man.

Santino then came out to announce that the two men will face each other in a Ladder match at “TLC” for the Intercontinental Championship.

Editor’s Note

One of the few matches at “TLC that has potential.
