It’s that special day of the year—WrestleMania. It’s WWE’s gala event, a combination of big wrestling matches, celebrity appearances, and a scale of production rarely seen in the sports entertainment world. As a hardcore fan, it’s tough not to be disappointed with the card going into the show, given how many dream matches we were inches away from seeing, and the stars who aren’t on the show this year. But come on, it’s WrestleMania.
Against all odds, the mixed tag match between John Cena & Nikki Bella and Miz & Maryse has had perhaps the best build of any match at WrestleMania. But maybe we shouldn’t be surprised—Cena’s in the running as the greatest of all time on a live mic, and the Miz has been on fire since the brand split. The result of the match almost seemed an afterthought, though, as the real question was whether Cena would propose following the contest. You know, wrestling.
The result was as expected, with Cena and Nikki picking up the victory. Though it’s worth noting the crowd was firmly behind the Miz. And after the match, indeed–Cena popped the question. (She said yes.)
