We had a lot of questions about how good a match Lesnar and Goldberg could have. The Beast is known for violent squashes, while the latter star hasn’t been in the ring for over a decade. We didn’t know if ring rust would be a factor, if Goldberg’s age would hurt him, or if their meeting would be any better than their first back at WrestleMania XX.
Nobody expected what actually happened.
Lesnar slammed Goldberg into the corner. Goldberg shoved Lesnar to the mat. While Lesnar regained his footing, Goldberg delivered a spear. Then another. Finally, Goldberg got Lesnar in the air for a jackhammer. Then, a pin. 1, 2, 3 and Lesnar was defeated. The match didn’t last two minutes.
The only thing missing from the video is the jackhammer and pin, because how much can you actually edit out of a match that short? It’s $9.99 if you want to see the ending.
That’s the culmination of the multi-year long story that began with Lesnar’s shocking defeat of the Undertaker back at WrestleMania XXX. Since then, Lesnar’s beaten the crap out of John Cena, been part of a classic triple threat, ultimately defeated the Undertaker, and left Randy Orton laying in a pool of his own blood.
What’s next? For Lesnar, we don’t know. But Goldberg has reportedly inked a deal to appear at the 2017 Royal Rumble.
