One of the most talked about stories of 2016 has been the rise of James Ellsworth.

Ever since he debuted on July 25 in a squash match against Braun Strowman, the “no chin” wonder has won over the WWE Universe with his goofy persona, and general love for the business.

Earlier this week, Ellsworth posted on his Facebook page that he was no longer accepting independent bookings. This led to the rumors that he had been offered a full-time WWE contract.

Last night at a Big Time Wrestling event in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Ellsworth made the following announcement, confirming that he, in fact, had been offered a WWE deal:

Ellsworth has most recently been seen on “Smackdown Live” in a number of capacities. Although currently holding two victories over World Champion AJ Styles, he also recently cost Dean Ambrose an opportunity at winning the championship, by getting him disqualified.

Editor’s Note:

Many people have been upset at Ellsworth’s rise, saying that a joke like him has no business being involved in the main event storyline of “Smackdown Live.” However, I couldn’t be happier for the success that this man has had. It is obvious to everyone that he has a guy who is living his dream, and is elated to have the opportunities that he has. This is a wrestling success story, and we should all enjoy the moment!
