Joey Styles has not been having a great week. He made reference to the president-elect’s apparent penchant for grabbing genitals while announcing at an Evolve show, reportedly after being explicitly instructed not to mention anything related to politics. He was subsequently fired. Despite his apologetic open letter, and support from former WWE superstars, he was similarly let go by both Chikara and Beyond Wrestling.

The social media pressure may have gotten to be a bit too much for Styles, as he’s now gone and deleted every single tweet from his account. Now, only one remains.

Barely Legal was the first pay-per-view held by ECW, and One Night Stand was the first ECW event produced by WWE.

Styles has announced for both ECW and WWE, and spent most of the past decade as Vice President of Digital Media Content for World Wrestling Entertainment. He was released from that position in August.

Since then he has provided commentary for a variety of independent promotions, saying he wants to be the “voice of the indies.” Given the publicity of this controversy, that’s looking increasingly unlikely.
