Fastlane is over, and it seems that people really–really–didn’t like it. I maintain that Roadblock last year was way worse, but the results of Fastlane had some big implications for WrestleMania that fans really weren’t fans of. But come on, you all had had to know Owens was getting murdered out there.
WWE has three big segments scheduled for tonight’s Raw, and the first of those is Goldberg’s Universal Championship celebration. That’s his first title reign in nearly fifteen years, and comes after a combined minute and forty eight seconds of in-ring action following his comeback.
Though the Royal Rumble win in theory guarantees Randy Orton a main event spot at WrestleMania, there’s no reason to expect that guarantee to be honored, and I’d be surprised if the main event this year won’t be Goldberg vs Lesnar. The Beast, by the way, is advertised for an appearance tonight. Whether that’s on TV or as part of a dark segment remains to be seen.
Oddly enough, it was the cruiserweight division that stole the show last night, pitting Neville and Jack Gallagher against each other in a title contest that proved to be one of the best matches the division has had on the main roster. Tonight, we hope that momentum continues as former champ Rich Swann takes on Neville for the title.
Finally, Seth Rollins will appear as WWE promises and “in-depth, exclusive look” at the star’s rehabilitation. Will he be at WrestleMania? I mean, yeah. Totally.
Plus we’ll have the aftermath of Roman Reigns’ surprisingly clean victory over Braun Strowman, and the fallout of Bayley’s equally surprising conquest of Charlotte’s undefeated PPV streak.
Raw will broadcast from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL, and given the tone of internet commentary around Fastlane, it seems we’re about to be inundated with “CM Punk” chants. Stick with us for live coverage of everything as it happens, here and on Facebook!
