There was a brief window where it seemed like fans might finally get their WWE vs. WCW dream match, and Sting might actually take on the Undertaker.
In a recent tweet, Sting said that of his entire career, the one opponent he wished he could’ve faced would be Taker. That tweet is an ad for WWE Champions, which is available now for free on the App Store and Google Play!
(Yeah, we’re bummed out too.)
As part of an Authority storyline started at Survivor Series 2014, Sting was set to take on Triple H at WrestleMania 31. There he was defeated by Triple H in what can only be described as a terrible, delightful, nostalgic mess. Sting challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship later that year, losing in a contest that seemed to have the aging icon struggling to continue.

It seems that Sting’s difficulty competing in that last match was what ultimately led to his retirement and Hall of Fame induction the next year. The much-hoped for Undertaker match never materialized, and now it seems it never will.
This year, it seems Undertaker is set to take on Roman Reigns.
