For many fans, the biggest disappointment of the Royal Rumble was the absence of Kurt Angle. He’s headed to the WWE Hall of Fame this year, but we haven’t heard anything about him returning to a WWE ring. Until now, that is.

According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), WWE officials currently plan for Kurt to hit the ring once again for the biggest company in wrestling.

But don’t get too excited just yet.

Those plans are expected to be very limited, and Angle has yet to pass a WWE physical. There’s no word on who his opponent might be or whether that in-ring return will be more than a handful of minutes. And plans in Vince McMahon’s company are always subject to change.

But for fans of Kurt, any news is big. He’s been wrestling outside of WWE even following the announcement of his Hall of Fame induction. He had a contest just this week against former WWE star Alberto del Rio.

We have to wonder who a good short time opponent for Angle would be. Do you have any thoughts? Excited at the possibility of Kurt returning to action in WWE? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook!
